The shed is waterproof but made of natural raw wood, so yes, you need to seal the wood on the exterior to protect it from moisture and other elements. Most people use exterior graded stains or paint.
The shed kit does not come with roofing materials that will rainproof the roof, though the roof boards are included, so you only need the exterior roofing such as rolled roofing or steel.
