The would should be sealed using a product that's specifically designed for exterior wood. Paint and polyurethane offer the best surface protection, oil-based stain would follow next. We do not recommend water-based stain for humid areas. All exterior wood sealants give protection against mold and mildew. Nothing beats good ventilation though! Placing the shed on an elevated base, such as pressure treated wood frame or concrete blocks, gives a lift off the ground and allows air circulation under the structure. Here's more information on foundation options.
