when I put on a metal roof can I add an overhang, maybe six inches?

The shed currently has a 2-foot overhang. During assembly, you can extend this by attaching longer 2x6s to the existing roof beams. For the roof base, use locally sourced wood boards such as Tongue & Groove pine or Douglas Fir siding. While the groove of the siding may not match the original roof boards perfectly, it blends in visually quite well.
