SolidBuild sheds, as delivered, offer a much better acoustic starting point than a thin-walled metal or plastic shed. However, "solid" wood is not the same as "soundproofed."
If you want to increase soundproofing, here are some proven approaches:
- - Sound leaks through any cracks or openings, so use weatherstripping and caulk around the roof line and floor edges.
- - Adding insulation (like foamboard insulation, which is great for sound) under the floor and above the ceiling helps muffle both incoming and outgoing noise.
- - For serious soundproofing (like a music studio), the best method is to build a "room within a room" - customers have shared building a freestanding recording room inside the shed for optimal decoupling effect.
- Hanging carpets, curtains, or even moving blankets inside will help absorb sound and reduce echo.
If you need true sound isolation (for recording or loud activities), it takes a fair bit of extra construction, but it's doable. For most uses - like office work or casual music -sealing gaps and adding roof/floor insulation makes a noticeable difference.
